Offer & product configurator for an industrial machine manufacturer
A configurator and offer module that manages dozens of machines and hundreds of option combinations, cutting quote turnaround from hours to minutes.

Situation
A manufacturer of industrial wood-processing machinery had a sales process where reps manually assembled machine models, dozens of options, and pricing for every quote. Offers got lost between spreadsheets and emails, and different reps could quote different prices for the same machine.
Solution
We built a machine and option configurator with a Java/Spring Boot backend and a Next.js/React frontend:
- A rule engine defining compatible/incompatible option combinations per machine model
- Real-time price calculation based on selected options
- Role-based access control (RBAC) governing which users can quote within which price range
- One-click PDF offer generation
The system also attaches technical drawings and documents to offers via MinIO-based file storage.
Results
- Offer preparation time dropped from hours to minutes
- Invalid option combinations in offers were eliminated
- Pricing consistency was achieved — no more reps quoting different prices for the same machine
- The system is updated regularly through a Docker-based CI/CD pipeline, so new machines and options roll out quickly
